What to Expect

What should I wear?

No matter what your personal style, you’ll be comfortable at Town East Baptist Church. If you prefer dressy, business, or casual attire, chances are there will be others dressed much like you no matter when you visit. Sure, Sunday mornings are a time when many prefer to dress up a bit, but even if jeans are more your style, you’ll be right at home with us. Naturally, Sunday and Wednesday evenings are slightly more casual than Sunday morning, but dress up for these if you prefer.

Where do I park?

We have a parking spot reserved just for you! In the center of our main parking lot is an island with two trees and a bench. Visitor parking is located on the side of the island closest to the building. Of course you are welcomed to park wherever you desire.

How do I know where to go?

Once inside the main foyer, you’ll see the Welcome Center where someone will be waiting to assist you in finding your way around.

What about my children?

If you have Nursery or Preschool aged children (birth through Pre-K) you can take them to our Nursery.  In our nursery, we provide a safe, clean, and secure environment where your children will be well taken care of and taught a practical and easy to understand lesson from the Bible today.

At 9:00am your Elementary School age children (grades K-6), will attend Sunday School where they will learn about the Word of God and grow in their relationship with Christ in a small group setting. During the 10:07am Worship service your children will start the service with you in the Worship Center before being dismissed to attend Children’s Church where they will interact in meaningful worship, instruction, small group application and prayer with their interests and wiggly bodies in mind.  Your children will love it!

What will worship be like?

It is important to remember that what you get out of worship depends on what you put into worship. Worship is a commitment to recognizing Christ as the God of Heaven and Earth and a response of adoration to Him.

The Worship Celebration features a blend of traditional hymns along with contemporary praise, and is anchored by sound biblical teaching.

Okay, what is with the 10:07am starting time?

As our Pastor discerned God’s Will for our worship schedule he couldn’t decide exactly what time we should begin, so he turned to Scripture for an answer. He found the answer in John 10:7 “Then Jesus said to them again,'Most assuredly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep.'" Thus, we begin at 10:07am.

Will I have to say, give anything, or will I be singled out in any way?

We know it can be uncomfortable visiting a church for the first time and we strive to make you feel as welcomed and comfortable as possible. While we will not make you stand to be recognized, we are sure you will be warmly welcomed individually.

We do worship God with our tithes and offerings, but each individual is encouraged to give as they feel led. Many of our members give during the Bible Study or place their gift in one of our tithe boxes, so don’t worry that you are being “watched.” Giving is between you and the Lord.

Where are you located?

What do you believe (in a nutshell)?

We believe that Jesus alone is the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Him! (John 14:6)

Should I bring a Bible?

Yes, if you have one. We are people of the Word and believe it is vital to our Christian growth. If you happen to forgot yours don’t worry. We have Bibles located in each pew and in our classrooms. If you do not own a copy of God’s Word please let us know and we will gladly present you with a Bible to keep.

How do I join?

There are a couple of ways you may join TEBC. First is by professing your faith in Jesus Christ followed by Believer’s Baptism. You may also join by transferring your membership from an evangelical church of like faith. To begin the membership process you only need to respond to the invitation given at the close of the Worship Service. At that point you will become a candidate for membership pending completion of our Discovery Class.

Do you offer a New Members class?

Yes, we call it Discovery Class: Discovering Church Membership. The class meets on Sunday mornings at 9:00am and runs for four weeks. Also, you do not have to be a new member to attend the class; it is a great way to find out more about who we are and exactly what we believe.

I want to be baptized. What is the process?

The first step toward baptism is accepting Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord! Baptism does not “save” you – only your faith in Christ saves. Baptism is an outward sign of an inward change. Baptism is like a wedding ring – it is the outward symbol of the commitment you make in your heart.

At TEBC, we wait until our children are old enough to believe and understand the true meaning of baptism before we baptize them; therefore, we practice “Baby Dedication.” This is a covenant between the parents and God on behalf of the child. The parents are promising to raise their child in the faith until the child is old enough to make his or her own personal confession of faith in Christ. Scriptural baptism is only for those old enough to believe.

At TEBC, it is a membership requirement that every believer must have been baptized the way Jesus demonstrated (immersion), even though they may have been baptized or “confirmed” as a child.

We discuss baptism in detail in our Discovery Class.

How can I meet people in my same stage of life?

Life Groups (Sunday School) are really the best place to find people with whom you want to connect. By that we mean people you want to hang out with socially, grow with spiritually and with whom you’re motivated to serve our community.

I would like to get involved. How do I do that?

We cover this extensively in our Discovery Class, but we believe that church membership comes with several commitments including a commitment to discovering and using your God-given gifts and abilities in serving God and others

I still have questions, what should I do?
